目前CAAS有93所成員校，其中超過1/3表明今年申請季(2016-2017)不會(huì)用該系統(tǒng)。
起初，它們加入聯(lián)盟系統(tǒng)，堅(jiān)定支持申請的改革。但現(xiàn)在不管出于什么原因，在即將開啟的2016-2017年申請季，它們有相當(dāng)一部分選擇了退后一步：今年不使用該申請系統(tǒng)。
當(dāng)被問及為何加入CAAS，而又不用它申請時(shí)，各院校給的答復(fù)是驚人的相似：“我們對新技術(shù)(新平臺)還沒有準(zhǔn)備好”或者『我們在整頓自己的內(nèi)部申請系統(tǒng)，(目前)不太可能再加一個(gè)其他申請系統(tǒng)。』
不過在這些解釋中，既看不到對CAAS聯(lián)盟系統(tǒng)的任何批評，也看不到這些大學(xué)會(huì)用Common app的任何跡象。
CAAS管理者倒是表示支持，理解它們因?yàn)楦鞣N原因今年不用該系統(tǒng)。
今年不采用CAAS申請系統(tǒng)的是下面這些大學(xué)：

- The Prompts for the 2016-2017 application year are:
- Tell a story from your life, describing an experience that either demonstrates your character or helped to shape it.
- Describe a time when you made a meaningful contribution to others in which the greater good was your focus. Discuss the challenges and rewards of making your contribution.
- Has there been a time when you've had a long-cherished or accepted belief challenged? How did you respond? How did the challenge affect your beliefs?
- What is the hardest part of being a teenager now? What's the best part? What advice would you give a younger sibling or friend (assuming they would listen to you)?
- Submit an essay on a topic of your choice.
