2016年5月10日開(kāi)始，“STEM專業(yè)OPT延期最終政策文件”正式生效，其中最值得關(guān)注的就是STEM專業(yè)的OPT從17個(gè)月延期到24個(gè)月，加上原有12個(gè)月的OPT時(shí)間，STEM專業(yè)學(xué)生OPT總共有36個(gè)月的時(shí)間！

你適合STEM嗎？

STEM專業(yè)大部分是理工科類的，所以國(guó)內(nèi)與STEM 這些專業(yè)相對(duì)應(yīng)的理工科學(xué)生都是比較適合申請(qǐng)的。

整體而言，美國(guó)招收理科專業(yè)學(xué)生的數(shù)量是遠(yuǎn)遠(yuǎn)不及工科學(xué)生數(shù)量的。在工科專業(yè)中，電子工程、計(jì)算機(jī)、機(jī)械工程是招生規(guī)模和申請(qǐng)人數(shù)最多的三個(gè)工科專業(yè)。而對(duì)于理科，雖然國(guó)內(nèi)本科培養(yǎng)的理科人才也不少，例如生物專業(yè)，但由于該專業(yè)的學(xué)生在職業(yè)初期的薪水普遍非常低，所以國(guó)際生去美國(guó)讀生物科學(xué)并不是理想的選擇。

另一方面，文商科的學(xué)生有些專業(yè)也是在STEM大類下面。例如近些年比較熱門(mén)的金融工程，金融數(shù)學(xué)，商業(yè)數(shù)據(jù)分析、信息管理系統(tǒng)，以及新加入STEM大類的經(jīng)濟(jì)學(xué)方面的計(jì)量經(jīng)濟(jì)學(xué)、數(shù)理經(jīng)濟(jì)學(xué)。

這些一般都是商學(xué)院下開(kāi)設(shè)的專業(yè)，在申請(qǐng)時(shí)也會(huì)招收文商科背景的學(xué)生，但大家可能都看出來(lái)，這部分專業(yè)雖然屬于商科，往往都是對(duì)學(xué)生的數(shù)理背景、計(jì)算機(jī)能力有著很高的要求。所以文商科的學(xué)生想要申請(qǐng)美國(guó)STEM專業(yè)，可以以這些專業(yè)為跳板，同時(shí)要盡早提升自己數(shù)學(xué)和計(jì)算機(jī)方面的背景。
