The Honours program allows students to research a particular area from a wide range of topics such as urbanism, architectural history, theory and culture and design research and learning.
Graduates of the Faculty of Arts are encouraged to further their studies by undertaking an Honours year (one year of full-time study). It includes advanced coursework and a research component where you will produce an extended piece of work (thesis) on a chosen topic in consultation with an academic supervisor. The Honours year is considered to be a year of full-time study and regular attendance at classes is required. It is possible to do Honours over two years on account of special personal or medical circumstances. The prerequisite for Honours study is at least credit standard in a specified major. Applications are called for by Departments/Disciplines in October and November each year. Applications should be to the relevant Discipline Offices. The Honours Degree of Bachelor of Nursing offers nursing graduates the opportunity to undertake a research project related to nursing. The main component of the degree is the conduct of a research project leading to the production of a research report in the format of a paper for publication. Students are individually supervised by experts in their field.
The honours degree is available to students who have completed a three-year psychology degree, the one-year graduate-entry Bachelor of Psychological Science, or a major in psychology or equivalent. This is a one-year full-time honours degree that a graduate of the Bachelor of Psychological Science or equivalent accredited degree may apply for. This degree is highly competitive and has a limited intake each year. It consists of 50% thesis requirement and 50% coursework spread over four courses.
