Law and Criminology are inseparable. Each discipline informs theother - changes in law inevitably lead to criminologists adapting theirunderstanding, and vice versa. This course ideal if you are interestedin criminal law and want to broaden your knowledge to include whatgoes on outside the courtroom.

If you choose Accounting and Finance as your Major, you will studyintroductory, intermediate, and advanced modules in financial accounting,management accounting, and accounting theory. In finance, you will studythe basics of financial economics and intermediary and advanced modulesin corporate finance, financial products, and asset pricing. You willdevelop quantitative, communications, and information technology skillsand the ability to apply these skills in an accounting and financecontext. In addition, you will study two option modules of your choice.

If you choose Archaeology as your Major, you will discover therichness and diversity of the human past and the key events andprocesses that have shaped our human world. You will travel through timefrom the earliest periods of human evolution through the major periodsof British and European prehistory up to recent colonial pasts. Alongthe way you will gain a deep understanding of archaeology and its uniqueapproaches to the study of history and what it means to be human.

By choosing Archaeology as a Major, you will discover the richness and diversity of the human past and the key events and processes that have shaped our human worlds. A Major in Archaeology will provide you with the core knowledge and skills required of this discipline. You will be able to gain a deep understanding of core subject areas, develop practical field skills through excavation training, and you may be able to enhance your skill-set through our more science-based laboratory courses.

By choosing Criminology as a Major, you will gain an overview of the foundations of criminology, including theories of crime, criminality and criminal justice, and punishment and rehabilitation. You will also learn about many of the key occupational roles in criminology and criminal justice, and you will develop an understanding of how to analyse, interpret and undertake your own criminological research. In your final year you will have the chance to conduct your own guided independent dissertation, and you will be supported and supervised by an academic within Criminology.
