This programme is designed to prepare graduates to work as economists in the investment banking industry and other international or government organisations or in research related roles. It is delivered by both the ICMA Centre and the Department of Economics. Students admitted to the programme will therefore benefit from the rigorous training in both economics and finance and benefit from vast range of modules offered by both departments. The programme is structured with a strong emphasis on the combination between theory and practice. It gives students both breadth and depth of understanding of economics and finance in a systematic way, combining theoretical, methodological and practical issues. Applicants to Henley Business School, whose first language is not English, will be required to attain the International English Language Test Scores (IELTS), or equivalent acceptable qualification accepted by the University, as defined below, to enter a programme. However, for students who successfully complete one of the Pre-sessional English Language courses run by our International Study and Language Institute, a half-band credit will be applied to their English language condition. The Systems Analysis and Design pathway gives students an understanding of how technological information systems work, enabling them to deliver IT-based solutions, such as enterprise systems to business and organisations. You’ll learn how to manage data to deliver actionable business insight using creative, sophisticated techniques to solve complex business issues.

This programme provides theoretical knowledge and practical methodologies and techniques via case studies and tutorials that enable students to specify and design technology solutions for business managers and organisations. You will learn about informatics, business systems, processes and architecture necessary to understand the digital business environment. Students develop analysis, problem solving, teamwork and leadership skills necessary for creating effective business solutions. Students also learn the consulting principles and behaviours necessary for consulting.

The Art pathway develops your individual practice and research within a collaborative environment with opportunities to engage in public exhibitions and curatorial projects. Modules draw on the research strengths of Art at Reading in a distinctive blend of critical practice and theory. Together we map the contemporary art world exploring the production, dispersion and critical analysis of art and its institutions. An International Study Visit module offers an opportunity to experience major galleries, museums and collections. Other modules cover entrepreneurship, management and intellectual property law, and these are shared with the other pathways.

You will analyse the operation of global financial markets in a broad economic context and the effects that they have on the world. Core modules in each subject provide you with a thorough grounding in many aspects of finance, economics and quantitative techniques. You will also be able to widen your knowledge of both subjects through a range of optional modules.
